WHAT WE DO

Rekindled Tannery is a hand scale artisanal tannery based on Dartmoor and founded in 2015.

Here we see tanning as not just a traditional craft, but a relationship, a kinship: rekindling traditional tanning techniques and re-kinning the relationship between tanner and hide.

At Rekindled Tannery we use ancient techniques to create beautiful, durable products.

OUR ETHICS

Our hide sourcing is careful, considered and traceable, wild or farmed skins - mostly deer hides from here in Devon - are transformed into leather, rugs, rawhides and buckskin.

Our processes are simple and natural -  using wild tree barks harvested by hand here in Devon, and natural oils and tallows to soften.

    Beautiful high quality rawhides, perfect for drum making and crafts. Made from wild and farmed deer from Dartmoor and Devon.

    We have been preparing rawhide for sale to drum makers for the last 8 years, so you can be assured our hides are tried and tested.

    All our skins are prepared by hand using natural processes and ingredients in our micro tanneries.

    All tanned with wild harvested local bark and finished with natural oils. Simple ingredients, beautiful leather.
